Our background in the seismic retrofit of unreinforced masonry buildings is extensive. These types of projects are particularly challenging. The conditions of the existing materials involved always vary in quality, while the need to provide an efficient cost-effective bracing system is ever present.
RLA ENGINEERING has expertise in multiple methodologies for foundation stabilization. We've prepared remediation plans prescribing helical underpinning piers and pressure grouting to stabilize and re-level many commercial and residential building foundations that have undergone severe settlement.
Bringing existing buildings up to current code, primarily with respect to seismic load requirements, is another area where RLA Engineering has considerable experience. As with unreinforced masonry buildings, balancing the structural needs with construction cost is a constant challenge that drives our designs.
